Sweet Chariot

sotto voce

I would not admit this to another soul
but I will to you, sleepless reader: I
need a ride home.

Too much,
much too much of a good thing!
On that road to death, low tones
accompany me, dulcet ditties echo;

since the realization of fallibility, as seen
on TV, I’ve been swingin, the choir’s
been singin, the bell’s been ringin,
the bee’s been stingin and so on.

Keep it under your hat.
